Hilton Head Beaches
Named as one of the top ten family beaches in the country, Hilton Head Island is home to many beaches. We have twelve miles of white, sandy seashore with five public access locations all of which offer parking! The following beach access locations are for
public access:
Alder Lane Beach Access on the south end of the island, off South Forest Beach allows access to the east coast of the island right between the beach in Sea Pines and Coligny Beach. Rentals for beach activities, as well as, beach chairs are available during
the summer.
Beachfront at Coligny Circle on the south end is a very popular location. During the summer time Coligny is buzzing with families and the children just love to play in the water fountain that at the entrance of the access!
Driessen Beach, also known as Singleton Beach, mid-island is very popular. It offers picnic areas with benches and a neighboring playground. It is easily accessible and even has wheelchair access.
Folly Field beach is the best for those looking to do some water sports. Known as a good spot for surfing, body boarding and wind surfing, Folly Field Beach lifeguards also rent beach equipment. The beach is wheelchair accessible.
Fish Haul Creek Beach accessed from Beach City Road offers access to a sound. There is still a sandy shore though! This ‘beach’ generally isn’t crowded and there are no lifeguards on duty. Be sure to check tide reports if you plan on swimming in the sound!
Beach Rules and Regulations are as follows for all beaches, be they private or public.
The beach is pet friendly. From the Friday before Memorial Day until Monday of Labor Day Weekend pets are not allowed on the beach from 10am-5pm. Before or after those hours, leashed pets are fine. From Labor Day thru the end of September pets must be leashed
from 10am- 5pm. From October to March pets are not required to be leashed. From April to Memorial Day pets must once again be leashed from 10am-5pm. For the safety of you, your pet, and others, please be sure that your pet is under positive voice control at
all times! Also, local law requires you to always clean up after your pet!
From April- September no stunt kites or sand-sailing allowed from 10am-6pm. The beach has designated swimming areas. Please do NOT fish or surf cast, use surfboards, boogie boards, or other forms of riding surf, or use metal components such as horseshoes
in these designated swimming areas.
Also, year round there is no shark fishing, operation of motor crafts, horses, glassware, beer, wine, or liquor allowed anytime, as well as, no sleeping on the beach after midnight.
